It is important that you don’t drive a car or any other vehicle, or a bicycle, for 48 hours after your anesthetic. Anesthetic drugs remain in the body for up to 48 hours. It can cause amnesia and slow your thought process as well. After your anesthetic, you still have the drugs in your body.

It is not a good idea to start driving after surgery as most hospitals and surgery centers claim it can badly damage your infected area. Most of the states charge people If they do not act upon doctors advice and get an accident within 24 hours after surgery. You could be charged with “driving under the influence of drugs” (DUID). These states take these decisions to provide safety for people. In addition, it is important to always listen to the advice of your healthcare provider and be patient.  

When can I drive?

In comparison, the individual who is young and in good physical health can sooner recover from surgery and perform tasks early. So, it is better to drive after complete recovery from injuries and wounds. The best method is that take help from your relative or friend so that they can drive for you.
