Signs It’s Time To See a Therapist

Most of people don’t talk about this but let us tell you something. Mental health is a real problem. If you are not happy with your inner self and questioning your self-worth, it means you are fighting with yourself and need help.

There is nothing to be ashamed of in admitting that you need help. Talking to a therapist is one of the best ways to ease your mind and pour your heart out. Here are some signs when it’s time to see your therapist.

Depression

We think this is one of the most common issues with this generation. Depression is not just about crying or turning into an alcoholic. It could be sitting with your friends and not feeling like talking to them. You could be laughing and smiling for the world to see but your heart might be craving for something or someone to hold on to.

We think one of the biggest challenges is to identify if you are depressed. You might probably have read thousands of posts and articles defining depression but the truth is it varies from person to person and no one can define it for you. If you feel you are depressed and you have no one to talk to, this is the perfect time for you to see a therapist.

If you are grieving

Grieving someone can be one of the most painful times of your life. We feel like a part of us has been left behind and every second we wish for it to be back. Sometimes, it becomes hard for us to accept reality and move it.

Sometimes, this happens even if we are going through a breakup. Having a breakup in this generation can be really tough. It’s looking at their photos pop up on your social media accounts or stalking them often to see if they have moved on.

The most important thing to do is to acknowledge that we need help. If you are going one of these things, you should consider seeing your therapist.

If you are not motivated

There are some times when we don’t feel like working. There might be days when you are not looking forward to meeting your friends or even getting up from your bed. If you find yourself constantly procrastinating about things and have no energy to work maybe you should visit a therapist

If you feel that you are stuck

With people posting their success on their social media accounts, there are episodes where we feel that we are stuck. You might see your friend getting engaged or someone getting a promotion. What we need to remember is people do not post their failures on social media.

It’s very easy to look at someone’s Instagram pictures and wish for the same but you do not know what’s actually going on. If you are someone who is visiting your social media profile often just to look at others’ success and feel left out. Maybe you should talk to your therapist about it.

Mood swings

Many of us have difficulty accepting the fact that we need help which often results in a lot of emotional breakdowns. You might find yourself not happy even if you have had an amazingly perfect day at work. Or you might be filled with anger at the simplest of mistakes.

You might have not noticed this but the people around you do. If you find your loved ones talking to you about your mental health, it means they are worried about you and want you to get help. Do not neglect these signs and visit a therapist

These were some reasons when you should consider visiting a therapist. Remember your mental is more important than anything. If you are not happy with something, let it go. Most of us tend to overthink and miss out on lots of amazing opportunities on being happy. Always remember you are not alone.
